Former first-rounder Aaron Maybin has been released by the Buffalo Bills after two disappointing seasons spent largely on the bench. Bills GM Buddy Nix indicated back in February that the team planned to stand behind Maybin, and work with him in hopes that he could reach his potential. That reportedly changed in recent weeks, as the Bills began to shop around the former Penn State star.

Aaron Maybin released by the Bills after two incredibly disappointing seasons.
In his first two seasons in the NFL, Maybin failed to record a sack and had just 24 tackles overall. The supposed pass-rush specialist had just six totals tackles last season in 11 games played, prompting rumors that he would be on the wrong side of the final 53-man cut come the 2011 season.
Maybin notoriously held out through a long chunk of training camp his rookie season while trying to finalize a deal with the Bills. He ultimately signed a five-year deal worth $15 million that, in hindsight, was ludicrously generous. He was selected 11th overall in the 2009 draft after a stellar final year at Penn State in which he record 20 tackles for loss, 12 sacks and three forced fumbles.
