The Detroit Lions will be getting a visitor this week. According to Pro Football Talk, free agent G Leonard Davis is visiting the Lions on Wednesday and Thursday of this week and could sign with the team. Davis was released by the Dallas Cowboys so it's interesting that he's still on the open market.
Free Agent G Leonard Davis Visiting Detroit Lions
The Lions will host free agent G Leonard Davis on a visit Wednesday and Thursday. The 32-year old Davis is a former Cowboy.
Then again, he’s been in the league for 10 years so he’s a veteran and probably didn’t want to go through training camp again. Hey, I’d avoid it if I could.
You can always use offensive line help, especially in Detroit where so much of their success is tied to the health of QB Matthew Stafford. And it's even nicer to bring in someone like Davis who could fill a number of positions -- tackle of guard, on either side of the line.
As an offensive lineman, you worry about Davis’ weight while working out on his own during the lockout. If he’s in shape, I think he’d be worth a short-term deal at age 32.
