The Carolina Panthers haven't announced who will be starting the regular season opener as they continue to do their due diligence on QB Jimmy Clausen and QB Cam Newton. Last week, it was Clausen who got the nod as the starter and this week the honors will go to Newton.
Cam Newton To Start For Carolina Panthers Vs. Miami Dolphins
The Panthers went with Jimmy Clausen as the starting QB in the first week of the preseason and in the second week they’ll go with Cam Newton.

The Panthers play the Miami Dolphins on Friday night for their second preseason game of the year.
In the first week, both players had their ups and downs. Clausen started the game completing 4-of-7 passes with a touchdown pass to TE Greg Olsen and an interception. Newton relieved him and completed just 8-of-19 passes but lead the Panthers on two scoring drives.
I’ve argued before that the Panthers should let Clausen start in the early portion of the season and slowly bring Newton along. However, if he’s clearly a better option than Clausen, then it’s hard not to appoint him the starting quarterback, even with less experience.
For now, we wait to hear who will start the regular season opener next month.
