Linebacker Lawrence Timmons has signed a new five-year, $50 million contract making him the second Steelers linebacker to receive a contract extension in the last month.

    Lawrence Timmons Gets Big Contract Joining Steelers’ LaMarr Woodley

    Woodley was slapped with the franchise tag and, in the first week of August, received a six-year, $61.5 million contract.He was due his long-term deal and since the Steelers generally keep their own guys rather than go fishing in free agency, his new deal wasn’t a big surprise.

    The latest linebacker to join Woodley among the well-paid players on the team is Timmons. Reports came out early on Tuesday morning that Timmons agreed to a five-year, $50 million extension with the Steelers. He becomes the second linebacker from that draft to sign a long-term deal.
