You know that Tim Tebow, anointed savior of the Denver Broncos, is currently sitting third on the quarterback depth chart behind starter Kyle Orton and second-stringer Brady Quinn. You've also heard the (seemingly unfounded) rumors emerge that the Broncos are considering trading or flat-out cutting their 2010 first-round draft pick. The sky is officially falling on Tebow and anyone else who cares to throw gasoline on this fire, should probably do so right now.
Tim Tebow Saga Takes Inevitable Next Step, ‘All Else Equal, Tebow Would Be 4th-String QB’
As one highly knowledgeable member of the organization told me Monday, "If everything was totally equal, and this were a competition based only on performance at this camp, Tebow would probably be the fourth-string guy. Kyle [Orton] is far and away the best, and Tebow’s way behind [Brady] Quinn, too. And I’m telling you, Adam Weber is flat-out better right now."
In reality, Weber, a four-year starter for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, is destined for the practice squad, if that. The idea that the team would waste time grooming Weber with so much money and time already invested in Tebow is silly.
The true crux of the article is that Tebow seems hampered by the lack of a true off-season to build on the modicum of success he had at the end of last year.
Let’s just hope LeBron James doesn’t read this article anytime soon.
