The battle for the 2011 regular season MVP will begin in a few weeks but we already have the favorites. Bodog.com released a list of the top players on their MVP watch, a list that starts with Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers.
Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady Are Early Favorites For NFL MVP
Bodog also has the Packers as the favorite to win it all this year so they’re really riding last year’s Super Bowl victory.
New England Patriots QB Tom Brady comes in right behind Rodgers in the early odds.
Rodgers had a solid 2010 campaign and lead the Packers to the Super Bowl, which is where Bodog’s odds say they’ll end up once again. Meanwhile, Brady is once again an MVP favorite after one of his best seasons in 2010 saw him throw 36 touchdown passes to just four interceptions.
QB Michael Vick is in third place with 17/2 odds and, after the season he had last year, it's easy to see why. If he can stay healthy, he has a legitimate shot to win the MVP.
WR Julio Jones leads the list of odds for AP offensive rookie of the year and LB Von Miller leads the defensive group.
We’ll see how this thing ends up but I think that’s a pretty good list right there. Quarterbacks usually dominate the MVP race and it’s no different this year with the early odds. A lot of it also has to do with how well your team plays and those three -- Rodgers, Brady and Vick -- are expected to have three of the top teams in the NFL.
