Jarvis Jenkins' injury that he suffered against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night looked bad. Unfortunately for the Washington Redskins, the MRI apparently told the same story as the rookie tweeted Friday morning that he has a torn ACL.
Jarvis Jenkins Injury: Redskins Rookie Suffers Torn ACL Against Ravens
Washington Redskins rookie lineman Jarvis Jenkins announced that he’s suffered a torn ACL.
Jenkins explained how the injury occurred to the Washington Post after Thursday night’s game.
“I was doing a stunt on that side, and I seen the running back cutting back,” Jenkins said. “So when he cut it back, I kind of reacted to him. I had my hands on the lineman trying to throw him. I threw him, and I tried to plant at the same time and redirect, and something just popped.”
Jenkins, the Redskins second round pick this spring, showed real promise in training camp and was expected to be a real contributor on Washington’s defensive line this season. With a torn anterior cruciate ligament, however, the rookie out of Clemson will probably have to wait until next season to show his potential during the regular season.
“Redskin fans thanks for the support I love you all...unfortunately it is a ACL tear...” Jenkins wrote on his Twitter account. “I’m gonna work harder than I’ve ever worked to get back. I love this game too much.”
Hopefully, especially for Redskins fans, Jenkins recovers at as close to full strength as possible.
