The One Where A Ravens Rookie Breaks Up A Knife Fight At Five Guys
You wouldn’t think that anyone could ever get into a fight at a place as delicious and heavenly as Five Guys, but remember, everyone: This was a Five Guys in Baltimore. Once you add the “Baltimore” qualifier to things, all bets are off, and (sorry) it’s all in the game, yo.
So when Ravens rookie WR Tandon Doss went to Five Guys for a pregame meal before Thursday night’s Skins-Ravens game, you shouldn’t be surprised to hear that he found two ex-employees ganging up on their former manager. They had a knife with them for the attack, which (again) shouldn’t be that surprising.
What’s more impressive is that Doss stepped in and saved the dude getting attacked.
As Doss tweeted immediately afterward, “Jus had to break up a fight at five guys. Baltimore is too ratchet!!!” After the Redskins game, we found out more about what exactly happened.
Baltimore police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said the dispute broke out in the restaurant in the Pratt Street Pavilion about 4:30 p.m. He said two men, one police believe to have been angry about getting fired, cut the 34-year-old manager with a knife.
Guglielmi said the two men, both former employees, ran from the restaurant but left the knife behind. The manager suffered a minor cut on his chin and was treated and released from an area hospital, the spokesman said.
Doss said he was not worried about his personal safety when he intervened. "I mean, it was two dudes on one," he said with a shrug. "I was trying to help the situation out. I broke it up. I saw the guy on the ground bleeding, and I saw a guy on top hitting him. So I stopped it."
Pretty awesome move, especially for a rookie who had every right to be pretty freaked out by the scene. But the story, in general, raises a bigger question: “If we knew Baltimore couldn’t have a Five Guys without fights breaking out, why does Baltimore get a Five Guys in the first place?”
The simple answer: Got to, man. This is America. Every city deserves a Five Guys.
