Jets Vs. Giants: Game Time, TV Schedule, Position Battles And More

The New York Giants host the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium on Saturday night, with Plaxico Burress taking on his former team for the first time.

Due to Hurricane Irene prompting state of emergencies in both New Jersey and New York, the New York Giants host the New York Jets in the newly-named MetLife Stadium has been rescheduled from Saturday night to Monday night at 7pm ET.

It's appropriate that in the same week the insurance company has struck a naming rights deal with both clubs, the Giants have been looking for insurance at the cornerback position. 2011 first-round pick Prince Amukamara is out with a broken bone in his foot, and starter Terrell Thomas and valuable reserve Brian Witherspoon suffered torn ACLs during Monday night's blowout win over the Chicago Bears.

A handful of veteran free agents were brought in on Wendesday, with former Jaguars and Falcons corner Brian Williams earning a contract.

The big story with Gang Green is Plaxico Burress' first appearance against his former team. Burress looked sharp in his preseason debut, catching three passes for 66 yards, including a 26-yard touchdown. The 6-foot-5, 232-pound Burress demonstrated that, even after three years away from the game, he is very difficult to defend one-on-one. Burress tweaked his back during this week's practices, but is expected to play.

Also expected to play is Shonn Greene, who missed the second preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals with a skin infection on his foot. Jets head coach Rex Ryan is not pleased with the inconsistency of the ground game, which on the surface is doing well with 256 yards on 60 carries (4.3 avg). Take away a 69-yard run by Chris Jennings in the final minutes of the Bengals game, and the Jets are averaging just 3.2 yards per carry. For a team built around a strong running game and their defense, that simply isn't good enough.
