Saints Vs. Raiders: Game Time, TV Schedule, Position Battles And More

Eight days after fan violence, including multiple parking lot shootings, marred the Oakland Raiders-San Francisco 49ers preseason game at Candlestick Park, the Raiders will host the New Orleans Saints on Sunday night.

To prepare for this game, the Saints moved their training camp to Oxnard, California after their Week 3 loss to the Houston Texans. Saints head coach Sean Payton was not happy with the performances from either side of the ball against the Texans, nor was defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, who had his players doing old school "Up/Downs" during one of their first California practices. Williams' search for his starting outside linebackers continues, with Scott Shanle and Jonathan Casillas competing on the weak side and Will Herring, Clint Ingram, and 2011 third-round pick Martez Wilson competing for the strong side job. Offensively, the Saints are still looking for a starting right tackle, with 2010 second-round pick Charles Brown competing with veteran Zach Strief.

Raiders first-year head coach Hue Jackson is still searching for his first win (of any kind) as an NFL head coach. The Raiders are expected to have starting quarterback Jason Campbell, who suffered a head injury in the 49ers game but returned to practice. The Raiders' next two preseason games will be pivotal for quarterbacks Kyle Boller and Trent Edwards, who are vying for the No. 2 job behind Campbell. One Raiders rookie to keep an eye on is fifth-round wide receiver Denarius Moore, who has five catches for 65 yards in the preseason, but has turned heads in Oakland and could be in the starting lineup on September 12 against the Denver Broncos. Oakland's secondary figures will be challenged by Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who lit them up for 14-of-17 for 179 yards and two touchdowns in one quarter of work during the 2009 preseason.
