Cardinals CB Greg Toler Tears ACL, Out For Season

Cardinals starting cornerback Greg Toler will likely be out at least six months and should be back next season.

The already diminish Arizona Cardinals secondary received another blow on Monday when it was revealed that cornerback Greg Toler tore his ACL during Saturday's preseason game against the San Diego Chargers. Toler will be out for the season.

Initially, it was believed that Toler had not suffered anything worse than a knee sprain. Although he went down without contact in the first quarter, he was able to walk off the field under his own power. After the game, he sounded optimistic that the injury wasn’t very serious. An MRI on Sunday revealed that the injury was far more significant.

Toler's injury is the fourth significant loss the Cardinals secondary has endured. It started with the trade of Dominque Rogers-Cromartie and continued with injuries to Mike Adams (knee surgery) and safety Adrian Wilson (torn biceps tendon). Adams and Wilson will return relatively soon. In the meantime, it appears as if rookie Patrick Peterson will step into Toler's starting spot.
