CB Carlos Rogers was the ninth overall pick by the Washington Redskins in the 2005 NFL draft and now, six years later, he's gone from Washington D.C. and playing in the other side of the country. Per Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area, Rogers signed a one-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers.
Former Top 10 Pick Carlos Rogers Joins San Francisco 49ers, According To Report
The 49ers released CB Nate Clements last week and acquired CB Carlos Rogers this week.
The one-year deal is interesting now that Rogers has been on the market for a week. Like DT Aubrayo Franklin, maybe the market wasn't what he thought it was so he signed a one-year deal (like Franklin) to get back to free agency next year.
Rogers visited the 49ers this week after CB Nate Clements was released making cornerback a need. The 49ers defense is getting a bit of a facelift with LB Aldon Smith added to the mix with the seventh overall pick and now Rogers in the secondary.
He’s 30 years old having started 68 games so he has some tread left on his tires. Luckily, his job won’t be difficult relative to other teams because he faces the quarterbacks of the NFC West six times a year.
