The Houston Texans allowed FB Vonta Leach to leave via free agency -- he signed a deal with the Baltimore Ravens -- and we found out on Wednesday that they have a backup plan -- FB Lawrence Vickers. Per John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, Vickers and the Texans agreed to terms on a two-year deal.
Lawrence Vickers Is Vonta Leach’s Replacement With Houston Texans
The Texans allowed FB Vonta Leach to leave via free agency so they’ve replaced him with Lawrence Vickers.
Vickers joins a potent Texans offense and will be blocking for RB Arian Foster, whose 2010 season was among the best of all running backs.
Vickers comes from the Cleveland Browns where he was a 2006 sixth round pick. He became the Browns full-time starter in 2007 and earned a Pro Bowl berth in 2008.
Interesting note: all of his three career touchdowns came against the division rival Pittsburgh Steelers. Maybe he does the same for the Texans against the Indianapolis Colts.
