With the release of Madden ‘12 today, it’s basically a national holiday for football fans. So in the spirit of celebration, let’s Complex Magazine put together a list of the Top 50 Madden characters in history, and it runs the gamut from Taylor Mays in Madden 2011 (no. 50) to Michael Vick in 2004 (no. 1).
Celebrating Madden ‘12 With The 50 Best Madden Players Of All Time
Mays’ inclusion is impressive, mainly because he’s the type of player only hardcore gamers would find. As Complex explains:
...while Mays is hardly the second coming of Mike Singletary, he’s boasts a 95 speed rating and a 92 hit power rating. That’s terrifying talent in the hands of a smart user, making him one of the best defenders in the game (check that: history of the game) for usering on defense.
There’s also Barry Sanders (no. 3), and Chris Johnson from last year’s game (no. 2), but really, this entire list lives in the shadow of the number one spot, Michael Vick in Madden 2004.
He had 95 speed, he had one of the strongest arms of any quarterback in the game, and against the computer or another player, he was pretty much unstoppable. Not since Tecmo Bowl and Bo Jackson had we seen a player quite so dominant, and we still haven’t see one since.
There are odes to his genius all over the internet, but to keep it brief, Video Vick in 2004 was literally the player that 12 year-olds would create who is great at everything, and so unstoppable that the game becomes a joke. There are plenty of reasons to love Madden ‘12 this year, but as much as anything? Be glad you don’t have to play against Madden 2004 Michael Vick.
