Jordan Babineaux To Titans After Seahawks Confusion, According To Report

The Titans have agreed to terms with free agent defensive back Jordan Babineaux, according to reports.

Free agent defensive back Jordan Babineaux agreed to a one-year deal with the Tennessee Titans, Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean reported earlier today. But wait! Babineaux then reportedly changed his mind and chose to remain with the Seattle Seahawks.

Update: John Clayton reports the Seahawks deal is back on.

The weird part is that Babineaux's agent, J.R. Rickert, confirmed the Titans transaction, adding that Babineaux accepted less money from other suitors to reunite with defensive coordinator Jerry Gray, who was Babineaux's defensive backs coach with the Seahawks in 2010.

Originally signed by the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Southern Arkansas in 2004, Babineaux totaled 411 tackles, four quarterback sacks and 10 interceptions during his sevens seasons in Seattle. Babineaux spent the first five years of his career as a reserve cornerback and safety before earning the starting strong safety job in 2009.

In 16 starts in 2009, Babineaux had a career-high 104 tackles and 1.5 quarterback sacks before being released and re-signed at lower salary to play a reserve role in 2010.

After demonstrating the ability to make plays at key points in games, most notably with a game-saving tackle of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo after a botched extra point attempt in the 2006 NFL Playoffs, Babineaux earned the nickname "Big Play Babs" early in his career.
