TE Marcedes Lewis was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2006 and in five career seasons it's the only team he's played for. The Jaguars, wanting to keep him for 2011 and beyond, slapped the franchise tag on him before the lockout began which essentially guaranteed him about $7 million on a one-year deal.

TE Marcedes Lewis and the Jaguars have agreed on the terms of a long-term contract that will keep Lewis in Jacksonville for five more years.
You can officially forget the franchise tag because Lewis and the Jaguars will be together for longer than one year. Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union reports the two sides agreed on a long-term contract that span five years. If it isn’t already signed by now, it will be soon, and Lewis will practice on Friday.
Stellino reports Lewis got slightly less than $35 million total making it an average of $7 million per year and slightly less than $18 million guaranteed.
The deal sounds about right for both sides. The Jaguars are still paying him a per-year average of about $7 million but both sides get the long-term security out of the deal that they wanted.
Lewis had his best season as a pro in 2010 catching 58 balls for 700 yards and 10 touchdowns.
The folks at Big Cat Country are probably pretty excited about this move.
