Lions Add Mike Bell, Jerome Harrison To Replace Injured Mikel Leshoure

The Detroit Lions added two running backs after RB Mikel Leshoure suffered a season-ending injury on Monday.

The Detroit Lions had a tough pill to swallow on Monday when rookie RB Mikel Leshoure went down with an injury and it was later revealed that he suffered a torn Achilles' tendon, which put him out for the entire 2011-12 season. The Lions were hoping he would complement RB Jahvid Best so they needed a replacement plan for Leshoure.

Those two replacements will be running backs Mike Bell and Jerome Harrison, who were signed in free agency on Tuesday.

Bell started his career with the Denver Broncos gaining 677 rushing yards in his rookie year. He went on to play for the New Orleans Saints, where he 654 rushing yards in 2009, and then the Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns. He's had those two productive seasons but hasn't had a 100-yard rushing season in any other year.

Harrison was the Browns fifth round pick in the 2006 draft and stayed with the team for the first four and a half years of his career. His best season came in 2009 when he rushed 194 times for 862 yards and five touchdowns.

Check out Pride of Detroit to see what the Lions plan to do with both running backs.
