Justin Tuck Likely To Play For Giants Today

The New York Giants will have at least one defensive stalwart on the field for them today, part of the time anyway. Defensive end Justin Tuck is expected to play today, according to Will Carroll from SI.com. Tuck was dealing with neck pain said to be worse than the typical stinger.

Tuck walked his way through the Giants’ walkthrough yesterday, but head coach Tom Coughlin said at that point Tuck’s status would depend on how he felt this morning.

That has to be a relief for the Giants, who play their division rivals, the Washington Redskins, today. A rash of injuries swept through the Giants defense this year, hitting their secondary especially hard with injuries to first-round pick Prince Amukamara and Terrell Thomas. Starting middle linebacker Jonathan Goff was lost for the season with a knee injury in practice.

Tuck’s availability gives the Giants defensive front some pass rushing potency. The unit will be without Osi Umenyiora today as well.
