Jon Beason’s Injury Will Cost Him All Of Carolina Panthers 2011 Season

Unfortunately for the Carolina Panthers, the bad news was confirmed on Monday: LB Jon Beason tore his Achilles' and will be out for the 2011 season. Tough blow for Beason, who is a rising star in the NFL. Beason had just signed a massive five-year contract with the Panthers so his injury is especially tough to swallow.

What’s next for the Panthers? SB Nation’s Cat Scratch Reader takes a look:

Now the spotlight is firmly placed on Dan Connor, a player who quietly led the Panthers in tackles on Sunday. During the off-season we talked about wanting Connor to have an opportunity to start, now it appears he’ll get that shot for the Carolina Panthers. I’ve never been so thankful for depth at middle linebacker.

They’re right. Carolina could be worse off than this but it’s still not easy losing Beason.

They lost their Week 1 game against the Arizona Cardinals despite an impressive debut from QB Cam Newton. (See, I could work Cam Newton's name into a post about another player.)

Hop on over to SB Nation’s Cat Scratch Reader where they’re talking about replacing Beason.
