Kicker Nick Novak is going home. After the San Diego Chargers lost kicker Nate Kaeding for the season in Week 1, they've signed Novak to a deal.
Chargers Sign Nick Novak After Nate Kaeding’s Injury
After losing K Nate Keading for the year, the Chargers worked out three kickers on Tuesday and signed K Nick Novak.

According to SB Nation’s Bolts From The Blue, Novak was one of several kickers that came in for a workout.
The Chargers practice today included tryouts for a new kicker, and among the competitors was Nick Novak (who was with the Bolts in training camp last year), Dave Rayner and Jeff Reed. Novak obviously had some fans among the coach staff, and did enough to win the job for the rest of the season (hopefully).
Usually a kicker is just a kicker and losing one for the season isn't a big deal but Kaeding is one of the best in the league so his loss stings for the Bolts. The good news? If QB Philip Rivers plays like he did last year, the Chargers won't be relying on a kicker very often.
Novak originally entered the league in 2005 as an undrafted free agent with the Washington Redskins. He spent training camp with San Diego in 2010.
