Brian Urlacher left the Chicago Bears due to a family emergency on Tuesday. Details of the exact reason the linebacker left are scarce, but it reportedly has something to do with his mother.
Brian Urlacher Leaves Bears For Family Emergency, Week 2 Status Uncertain
Brian Urlacher has left the Chicago Bears to deal with a family emergency, leaving his status for Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints in question.
The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Urlacher left town sometime Tuesday and that his status for this weekend's upcoming game against the New Orleans Saints is unclear. The Tribune's report said that Urlacher's teammates, along with the Bears' coaching staff and members of the front office, are aware of Urlacher's situation but had nothing further to report as of Tuesday night.
The Bears didn't practice on Monday or Tuesday following the weekend's season-opening victory over the Atlanta Falcons, a victory Urlacher played no small part of as he notched 10 tackles, a fumble return for a touchdown and an interception for good measure.
Hopefully everything is alright with Urlacher’s mother Lavoyda, currently living in Mount Pleasant, Texas, according to the report. Family should always come first with Urlacher’s Week 2 status against the Saints a distant, distant second, but we will update as soon as more information is available.
