So What’s Former First Round Pick Matt Jones Doing These Days?

It's been quite a fall for WR Matt Jones, the Jacksonville Jaguars first round pick in the 2005 NFL draft. A college quarterback, Jones entered the NFL as a receiver and, while he was disappointing as a first round pick, he had a few productive seasons topping out in 2008 with 65 receptions for 761 yards in 12 games.

Unfortunately, his career was ended because of several substance abuse-related arrests. He was released from the Jaguars in March of 2009 and had a few tryouts over the next couple of seasons but hasn’t been in a regular season game since 2008.

He has since retired from the NFL after reportedly declining a workout with the Redskins in November 2010.

So what’s he doing now? According to this tweet, he’s playing flag football:

Riches to Rags Matt Jones first round draft pick to playing in my men’s city flag football league..#wastedtalent

Can this be true? He has to be the best receiver on the field, right?
