This has to be one of the easiest choices for the AFC and NFC player of the week award. Two of the NFL's biggest names -- both quarterbacks -- had two of their best days. New England Patriots QB Tom Brady and Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers have been named the AFC and NFC offensive player of the week, respectively.
Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers Haul In Player Of The Week Awards
Brady's choice is obvious as he threw for an incredible 517 yards in Week 1's Monday Night Football matchup with the Miami Dolphins. That included a 99-yard touchdown pass to WR Wes Welker and three other touchdown passes. He's a no brainer pick for the award. This is the 18th time he's won the award, which is only two behind Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning for the all-time lead.
Another candidate would include Buffalo Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick who exploited the Eric Berry-less Kansas City Chiefs four 208 yards and four touchdowns in an opening week blowout victory.
Rodgers as NFC player of the week isn't as much of a no-brainer as Brady but it's still an easy choice. Rodgers was terrific against the New Orleans Saints in the Thursday Night Football season opening throwing for 304 yards and three first half touchdowns. It's the ninth time in his 53 career games that he's thrown for 300-plus yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.
Another candidate, even though his team didn't win, would be Saints QB Drew Brees, who threw for 419 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.
