New York Giants Sign Brandon Stokley

The New York Giants signed wide receiver Brandon Stokley on Wednesday night. Stokley played for the Seattle Seahawks in 2010.

The New York Giants added depth at the wide receiver position by signing Brandon Stokley on Wednesday night, according to his agent. Stokley had been on the free agent market since the league started back up in late July. He had reportedly reached an agreement to join the Washington Redskins, but once the team reached the mid-teens in receivers Stokley decided to pass on playing inside the Beltway.

The 35-year-old veteran played for the Seattle Seahawks in 2010, amassing 354 yards on 31 receptions. However, he hasn't been a serious factor in an offense since 2007 and 2008 when he was with the Denver Broncos. He combined for 89 receptions, 1,163 yards and eight touchdowns during those two seasons.

Stokley should help immediately if Hakeem Nicks' bruised and hyperextended knee prevent him from playing. However, Nicks seems confident that he'll be ready to go on Monday Night Football.
