it's not a good start for the Kansas City Chiefs. Todd Haley elected to defer and the Detroit Lions, and their explosive offense, took the ball and quickly started marching down the field on the Chiefs defense culminating in a QB Matthew Stafford to WR Calvin Johnson touchdown pass from 15 yards out.
Chiefs, Lions Fight And Kansas City Gets Multiple Personal Fouls
There were a couple of interesting notes on the Lions first drive.
First, Stafford was hit as he was throwing from midfield and the ball floated in the air getting intercepted by S Jon McGraw. The problem? McGraw fumbled, the Lions recovered and had a fresh set of downs after the change of possession.
Second, the two sides already got into a fight. RB Jahvid Best took a carry about 10 yards for a first down and away from the play CB Brandon Flowers and WR Titus Young got into a fight. Flowers pushed Young’s helmet off, which was a personal foul, and Young ripped Flowers’ jersey up during the scuffle. Chiefs CB Brandon Carr stepped in at the end of the play and pushed Young to the ground, getting another personal foul.
Third, on the play after the fight, Chiefs DE Glenn Dorsey was flagged for hitting the quarterback.
Bad start for the Chiefs, who desperately need a win.
