Buccaneers Vs. Vikings Score: Bucs Come Back From 17-0, Beat Vikes Despite McNabb’s Adequacy

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were down 17-0 at halftime to the Minnesota Vikings after two Adrian Peterson touchdown runs. That seems like ancient history after the Bucs scored 24 points in the second half, allowing the Vikings only a Ryan Longwell field goal. LeGarrette Blount scored two touchdowns, Josh Freeman found Arrelious Benn for a 24-yard touchdown, and with less than 30 seconds to play, the Buccaneers were up 24-20 and held on to win

The Vikings looked better than they did after their week one embarassment — McNabb has 203 passing yards, substantially more than the 39 he had last week — but their second-half defense was abysmal, allowing the Bucs to run roughshod for 5.5 yards per carry combined.

Most of that was from Blount, who had 79 yards on just 13 carries to go with those two scores. Freeman was his typical reliable self — 22/31, 243 yards and a touchdown with an INT — and it seemed to be just a matter of time before they came back into this game.

Though a loss, this should quell some of the doubt swirling around McNabb. He was crisper and more productive today, but the Minnesota faithful won’t be satisfied until that starts turning into wins, especially for a quarterback with a history of fourth quarter collapses.
