Packers Vs. Panthers: From Doorstep Of Tie, To Blowout In Three Plays

Cam Newton showed a lot of positive signs in his second career NFL game. Unfortunately, he's only likely to remember what he did wrong. Despite throwing three interceptions, the rookie quarterback had moved the Carolina Panthers to within a few yards of the tying touchdown in the fourth quarter against the Green Bay Packers. But on 3rd-and-1 from the Packers' 3, he scrambled around and eventually took a sack. On the next play, he was stopped short of the first down, turning the ball over.

Just two plays later, Jordy Nelson scored a 84-yard touchdown to make the score 30-16 and effectively put the game away. It was a drastic turn of events, but was maybe a good lesson for Newton to learn early in his NFL career. There is not much margin of error in the NFL, which is especially true when you're playing the defending Super Bowl champions. Newton will see better days, it's best that he just puts this one behind him.
