Jamaal Charles’ Injury Lands Him On Injured Reserve

The Kansas City Chiefs worst fears were realized on Monday morning when an MRI confirmed that Jamaal Charles' injury will land him on injured reserve. The injury is reported a torn ACL which will require a long recovery process for Charles (and it also ends a lot of fantasy football owners' seasons).

The Chiefs offense is severely impacted with this injury. Charles was the engine that kept them going rushing for over 1,400 yards last year and nearly 6.4 yards per carry. He took over as the Chiefs starting running back midway through the 2009 season and lit the NFL world on fire, despite limited carries.

The Chiefs will look to veteran Thomas Jones and second year running back Dexter McCluster to handle the load. They also signed fullback Le'Ron McClain in the offseason so he's a candidate for increased carries.

The Chiefs have lost 41-7 and 48-3 in back-to-back weeks so not only is Charles season over, but the Chiefs 2011 season appears headed in the same direction.
