The hits keep on coming for the New York Giants as the team announces that WR Domenik Hixon will miss the rest of the 2011 season with a torn ACL. This is the second consecutive year he's missed the season with an ACL injury.
Domenik Hixon Injury: Giants WR Headed To Injured Reserve
Hixon caught a touchdown pass in the Monday Night Football game against the St. Louis Rams and appeared to be hurt when he came down. It was later suggested that he had a calf problem, and not a knee injury, so the news of an ACL tear comes as a bit of a surprise.
This is yet another blow to the Giants, who have started the season 1-1 and have another big game against the Philadelphia Eagles next week. They may also have to go without WR Mario Manningham, who may have a concussion in that game.
Hixon was the team’s No. 3 receiver and punt returner. He was expected to have a rising role with the Giants so that he’s missing another season is a bad blow for him and the team.
