Arian Foster Injury Update: Texans RB Limited Participant In Thursday Practice

Houston Texans running back Arian Foster took a step forward in his recovery from an aggravated hamstring injury as he was a limited participant in practice on Thursday. According to head coach Gary Kubiak:

“He was limited in practice today,” Texans coach Gary Kubiak said on Thursday. “He went the whole practice. There’s a progression here going on, and he’s progressing very nicely. We’ll see where he’s at tomorrow.

“It is a day-to-day situation, but he took some limited reps today. He had a good workout yesterday. As I said, he can’t go from zero to everything, so we’re trying to keep this progression going.”

Foster missed Wednesday's practice entirely before getting back on the field today. For now Ben Tate remains the number one running back with Foster and Steve Slaton also on the depth chart. Previous backup running back Derrick Ward is expected to miss Sunday's game with a high ankle sprain.

If Foster is unable to go on Sunday the Texans would be left with Tate and Slaton as their only healthy running backs. An inactive Foster would likely result in Chris Ogbonnaya being activated off the practice squad. The team has one more practice on Friday before announcing the final injury report. Foster will likely be listed as questionable on that report with odds still high that he is either inactive or in a very limited role on Sunday.
