Tony Romo’s Status Still Unclear As Cowboys Prepare For Redskins

The Dallas Cowboys still aren't sure whether they'll have Tony Romo behind center when they take on the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football this week. Romo suffered a punctured lung and a cracked rib in last week's overtime victory over the San Francisco 49ers and the punctured lung has apparently healed.

There are reports that he was fitted with a protective vest, which suggests they’re preparing for the possibility of him playing. A person close to Romo told ESPN that he expects to play.

Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas reports that Romo hopes he can play but has only done some light throwing. He has not yet been cleared to play, which is an important note. As much as Romo wants to play, the team will do what’s in their best long-term interests.

It’s good for him that the Cowboys play on Monday because it gives him another day to prepare. Will that be enough? I would imagine we won’t be hearing a definitive answer on Romo’s status until the day of the game.
