NFL Scores Week 3, Ravens Vs. Rams: Ravens Roll Over The Rams

The Baltimore Ravens dispatched the St. Louis Rams with few problems to bounce back after a road loss to the Titans last week.

The Baltimore Ravens were looking to right the ship after a surprising loss to the Tennessee Titans last week. A date with the St. Louis Rams was just what the doctor ordered. Baltimore had no problems dispensing a hapless Rams team that played poorly in almost every facet of the game.

Rookie wide receiver Torrey Smith was the star of the first quarter. His first pass was a 74-yard touchdown that gave the Ravens a quick 7-0 lead. Flacco found Smith twice more for touchdowns, including a 41-yard score. Smith finished the game with five receptions for 154 yards and three touchdowns. Joe Flacco finished the day with 389 yards and three touchdowns.

Smith's performance should not obscure another fine day from Ray Rice. Baltimore's running back carried the ball eight times for 79 yards, including a 53-yard scamper. Defensive end Haloti Ngata added a touchdown in the fourth quarter off a Sam Bradford fumble.

Bradford had one of the worst games of his young career. He completed 16 of 32 passes for 166 yards, one touchdown and one interception. His lone touchdown pass came in the third quarter, as the Rams finally mounted a competent scoring drive after futile efforts all day. Bradford found Brandon Gibson for a 34-yard touchdown pass.

Steven Jackson did play for the Rams, but he was little more than a footnote. Jackson had jsut four carries for 23 yards. The Rams offensive line blocked well enough in the run game, but their struggles in pass protection helped sink the Rams offense.

The Ravens return home next week to face the New York Jets. Life does not get any easier for the Rams who get to stay home, but face a resurgent Washington team.
