Michael Vick Injury: Broken Hand Not A Clean Break

The second Michael Vick injury in as many weeks came at a rather inopportune time for the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Not than an injury to a team's starting quarterback ever comes at a good time, but for the second consecutive week, Vick had to leave the game while his team was still within striking distance.

Unfortunately for the Philly faithful, however, Vick’s outlook for Week 4 isn’t looking all that promising. Vick’s broken hand is a “non-displaced fracture,” rather than a clean break, according to Eagles coach Andy Reid in Sunday’s post game press conference. The fracture is on the quarterback’s non-throwing hand, but a crack in either hand can’t be looked at as a good thing regardless -- especially considering that the quarterback is still probably dealing with the after-effects of the concussion he suffered last week.

The quarterback didn’t have anything all that promising to say regarding his status for next week, either.

“I don’t know anything right now, except my hand is broken and we have to figure out what is the next move,” Vick told reporters after the game. Vick’s outlook on his injuries was a lot less angry than when he was asked about his constantly being hit thus far this season, for what that’s worth.
