VIDEO: Michael Vick Discusses Injury, Lack Of Penalty Calls In Press Conference

Michael Vick could be out for a month after sustaining a broken hand against the Giants on Sunday. Here’s the Eagles quarterback talking about the injury — and the referees’ failure to penalize Giants for hitting him late — in his press conference after the game.

Vick clarifies that he was hit after a pass to Jeremy Maclin that he describes as a “great play”; that would be the 23-yard completion to Maclin on the Eagles’ second drive of the third quarter, though ESPN’s play-by-play for the game suggests that Maclin, not Vick, was hurt on it. Vick would stay in the game until the end of the drive, completing a pass and running two dives up the middle, then leave with his return questionable. Vick then played on the next Eagles drive, completing a pass to Steve Smith, before leaving the game for good.

Vick’s complaints about the officials have already been well-disseminated, but it suffices to say that hearing them is a little different. Vick says “No flag. Broke my hand. That’s it,” but also concedes that “It’s just one of those unfortunate situations.”

Count on hearing plenty more about this situation this week, as fans wonder whether the NFL, often derided for making sure its quarterbacks have plenty of protection written into the rulebook, is still not doing enough.
