As soon as Vince Young referred to the Philadelphia Eagles as the "dream team" during their free-agent blitz this off-season, comparisons to LeBron James and the Miami Heat were inevitable.
The Philadelphia Eagles Want To Be The NFL’s Miami Heat, For Better Or Worse
Both teams were anointed champions by many before the season even started. Both teams got off to a very rocky starts. The Miami Heat eventually righted the ship and ended up going to the NBA Finals where they lost to the Dallas Mavericks. All due credit to the Mavs but the loss was seen as a massive chokejob by the Heat, who now represent overblown ego rather than championships.
So it’s probably not the best time for Eagles LB Jamar Chaney to compare his team to that one.
“We’re getting tested right now, and as long as we stay strong we’re going to be alright,” said Chaney. “The season ain’t over yet. We’re 1-2 right now. The Miami Heat started out the season 8-8 and everybody was jumping on them like it was the end of the world, and they ended up making it all the way to the Finals. It’s not the end of the world.”
He’s right, it’s not the end of the world. However, if the Eagles’ season ends the same way the Miami’s did, Chaney and his teammates might wish it were instead of having to head back to Philly.
