New Orleans Saints wide receiver Marques Colston appears to have made a quick return from his broken collarbone, participating in Wednesday practice only three weeks after the injury in the Saints season opener. Initial reports had Colston likely out until week six, but he was a limited participant in practice. While limited participation could mean he won't play on Sunday, head coach Sean Payton seemed confident Colston would play, going so far as to say "He's clear. He'll be up [active] this week."
Marques Colston Injury Update: Saints Receiver Returns From Broken Collarbone
If Colston does in fact play on Sunday, this would be a huge benefit to Drew Brees owners. Brees has been able to make the best of a Colston-less situation, but adding his best receiver back to the fold would be huge for him in an enticing matchup with the Jaguars.
For Colston owners, the situation is a little more murky. If he is active for Sunday, do you start him? Part of the decision rests on the depth you currently have at receiver. If you can last one more week, it might be wise to wait one more week to see how Colston performs in his first game back. He could blow up in his return, but he could just as easily grab a few catches and get sore a little too quickly. If I had him and he was active I’d likely sit him, but I’m a little more conservative in that regard.
