San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore made an appearance at the team's practice on Wednesday but was limited due to his ankle injury. Gore injured the ankle in Sunday's 13-8 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals and reportedly was hobbled by it during the second half. Backup running back Kendall Hunter made an appearance in the second half and had a solid performance with his first career rushing touchdown.
Frank Gore Injury Update: Limited In Practice But No Word On Sunday
Early in the week head coach Jim Harbaugh seemed confident that Gore would be ready to play Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. He backed off that talk a bit on Tuesday and at this point is just waiting to see how Gore looks in practice. If he is limited Thursday and Friday, question marks will remain through the weekend.
The 49ers are an early game so if you have Kendall Hunter as a Gore handcuff, you’ll be able to figure things out before any games get going. If Hunter makes the start, he could be a great sleeper option this week. The Eagles have one of the worst rush defenses in the league and struggle particularly when it comes to their secondary and linebackers making tackles at the second level. If the 49ers can mix in some sweeps on Sunday, they could find a decent amount of success on the ground.
We’ll be back with more practice details about Frank Gore as the week progresses.
