Arizona Cardinals running back Beanie Wells was limited in practice on Wednesday and it sounds like his status is somewhere between probable and questionable for Sunday's game against the New York Giants. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said that barring any setbacks, Wells would be good to go for Sunday's game. Whisenhunt acknowledged that hamstring injuries can be tricky, but he felt Wells was in a good place at this point.
Beanie Wells Injury Update: Hamstring Limits Cardinals Running Back In Practice
Wells was off to a very solid start to the 2011 season averaging 5.7 yards per carry before suffering the hamstring injury in practice prior to week three. He rushed for 90 yards in the Cardinals opener followed by 93 the next week against Washington before being deactivated against the Seattle Seahawks.
There were some question marks about whether Wells could carry the full rushing load for the Cardinals after they unloaded Tim Hightower. The hamstring brings up some of those issues, but given that it was a practice injury and not a game injury, it's not the end of the world. The Cardinals have a late game with the Giants this week, so if they go with a late deactivation again you might be in trouble. If he can get back to full speed at practice, the situation will look a bit brighter.
