The Miami Dolphins wrapped up their Thursday practice but had some bad news to report as running back Daniel Thomas had a flare up of the hamstring injury that sidelined him week one. Thomas has played the last two weeks without any issues, but officially becomes a question mark this weekend.
Daniel Thomas Injury Update: Hamstring Flares Up During Thursday Practice
We’ll keep an eye out for a Friday update when the Dolphins release their final practice participation report. However, given that the Dolphins are part of the first cycle of byes next week, it would not be surprising to see them sit Thomas so he can get plenty of extra rest of rehabilitation for his balky hamstring.
If Thomas is unable to play on Sunday, the addition of Steve Slaton is a significant benefit for the Dolphins. Reggie Bush would likely carry the load against the Chargers, but Slaton could work his way into the mix. Bush can be an electrifying play-maker, but he is not a work-horse back. He might be worth a start if Thomas sits, but he is no more than a flex option this week while Slaton is probably not even worth a roster spot for now. Of course, when Slaton takes over and dominates you can complain about that last line.
