NFL Roster Cuts: Tommie Harris Released By Indianapolis Colts, According To Report

NFL roster cuts are completely underway considering every team has to get down the NFL-mandated 53-man roster before the end of the weekend. As one might expect, the surprises are also underway -- including the Indianapolis Colts cutting veteran defensive lineman Tommie Harris.

Harris was cut by the Colts on Saturday afternoon, according to a report from Pro Football Talk, after being signed as a free agent this offseason. Harris played his first seven seasons with the Chicago Bears.

Stampede Blue, SB Nation’s Indianapolis Colts’ blog, isn’t happy about the transaction.

Harris had played well in preseason, providing a strong inside pass rush that the Colts haven’t had. Needless to say, this is a pretty stupid roster move. But, whatever. If the Colts are in the bottom half of the league again in sacks and struggle to stop the run, it’s moves like this we can all trace back to.

The Colts have apparently also cut running back Javarris James on their quest to reach the 53-man roster limit.
