Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak told the media Friday that running back Arian Foster "looks good...We're going to put him back to work full-time and see how he holds up." This comes two days after Kubiak had mentioned that the team would need to work Foster back to his full-time load. Gary Kubiak is most definitely following in the foot steps of his mentor Mike Shanahan when it comes to providing conflicting signals about his running backs.
Arian Foster Injury Update: Expects Sizable Load, But Ben Tate Lingers
As it currently stands, Ben Tate is likely going to be looking at a decent number of carries given his strong performances in place of Foster. The question is how much he takes away from Foster this week. At this point I think you have to stick with Arian Foster in spite of the conflicting signals. He faces a nice little matchup against a struggling Steelers squad and I've got to think he gets a vast majority of the touches. I find myself over-thinking the situation and that always leads to trouble.
Ben Tate on the other hand heads back to your bench as a simple hand-cuff to Foster. He retains season-long value given Foster’s hamstring, but he is not a guy you are starting at this point.
