Should the Jets trade for Peyton Manning if he’s healthy this offseason? “Hell yeah,” said one player speaking anonymous. But that was only the beginning. It’s one thing to state the obvious--Peyton Manning would be an upgrade for the Jets, just like he’d be an upgrade for 27 or 28 other teams. It’s something else to completely destroy your own QB in the process.
Mark Sanchez Is A Baby, And The Jets Want Peyton Manning
Here are the three most damning quotes from a Wednesday item in the New York Daily News, all from anonymous Jets sources.
No. 1: He’s lazy.
“We have to bring in another quarterback that will make him work at practice,” said one player. “He’s lazy and content because he knows he’s not going to be benched.”
No. 2: It’s not his fault... But God he was awful.
“Everybody got down on the quarterback,” a Jets source said. “But they weren’t looking at the situations we were putting him in. I don’t think he’s as bad as people are making him out to be. When the ---- started snowballing and he lost confidence, he never recovered. Then, you saw him making one stupid throw and one stupid mistake after another. ... So many games, he looked defeated before he ever took the field.”
No. 3: He’s a baby, not a man.
“They don’t want to be truthful with him,” one prominent player said of the way that the organization has handled Sanchez. “They treat him like a baby instead of a man. He goes in a hole when someone tells him the truth.”
You can read more over at the Daily News, but, yeah. Yikes. Part of this makes you hope the Jets get rid of Sanchez, just out of mercy, because it’s only going to get worse from here if he doesn’t improve.
But the evil part of me sorta hopes they miss out on Manning, #Sanchize comes back to start another year, and we get to watch this go up in flames all over again. At the very least, we need a New York Post cover with Sanchez’s head photoshopped onto a baby’s body. “JETS CRYING ABOUT MAN-BABY MARK” seems inevitable, doesn’t it?
God bless the Jets.
