Pierre Thomas Injury: Saints RB Suffers Head Injury

Nothing is going the New Orleans Saints way in Saturday's NFC divisional round matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. The Saints are losing 7-0 and their explosive offense doesn't look so explosive. To make matters worse, the Saints lost tight end Jimmy Graham for a short period early in the game (head injury) and it appears they may have lost running back Pierre Thomas.

Thomas was drilled by Donte Whitner on a goal line hit which resulted in a fumble for the Saints. Thomas suffered what appeared to be a head injury on the play (here's video of that hit) and he's now heading to the locker room. He could be done for the day.

As we noted when talking about Graham’s head injury, the league now has a video replay system on the sidelines available for trainers and medical people to identify potential injuries.
