Saints Vs. 49ers Score: Darren Sproles Gives New Orleans Their First Lead

With four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the New Orleans Saints have their first lead of their NFC Divisional Playoff game against the San Fransisco 49ers. Thanks to a brilliant catch and run by Darren Sproles, New Orleans leads 24-23.

SI.com: Saints-49ers live boxscore

The Saints put together a couple of excellent drives in the second quarter, but have not looked capable of scoring a touchdown at any point in the second half up until Sproles' monster play. The drive was more than that play, however, as the Saints went 79 yards for the score. Brees was brilliant on the drive, spreading the ball around to Devery Henderson, Marques Golston and Robert Meachem before going to Sproles. They got down to the San Fransisco 44-yard line before this happened.

Sproles now has 13 receptions on the day, tying an NFL playoff record. Brees has now attempted 58 passes and the two quarterbacks look like they could possibly combine for over 100 pass attempts by the end of the game.
