The Jacksonville Jaguars had shown interest in Mike McCoy during their coaching search, but wound up hiring Mike Mularkey before McCoy got the chance to interview. With the Broncos being eliminated from the playoffs on Saturday, McCoy is now free to interview with other teams. At 39-years old, McCoy just finished his third season as the Broncos offensive coordinator, sticking at the position after the coaching change from Josh McDaniels to John Fox. McCoy's stock has risen ever since he was able to tailor the Broncos offense to match quarterback Tim Tebow's skill set.
McCoy has been an assistant in the NFL since the 2000 season, originally being hired by John Fox and the Carolina Panthers. McCoy coached under Fox with the Panthers through the 2008 season prior to joining the Denver Broncos. Before taking on a coaching career, McCoy had stints in the NFL, CFL, and NFL Europe as a quarterback.
