The Indianapolis Colts have fired Jim Caldwell as head coach, according to a statement from the team. Caldwell took the team to the Super Bowl three years ago but the team most recently went 2-14 in one of the worst seasons in franchise history.
Jim Caldwell Fired As Indianapolis Colts Head Coach
After going 2-14 last season, the Colts have fired head coach Jim Caldwell.

The timing is curious because several Indianapolis-area reporters had predicted that Caldwell would return, and that the Colts could announce the move as early as Tuesday or Wednesday. They made an announcement -- just not the one those in Indianapolis thought he might make.
The Colts now enter the search for a new head coach. They have their new general manager, Ryan Grigson, who was hired last week. The Colts fired GM Chris Polian and his dad, Bill Polian after the season.
The Colts job should be considered one of the best available because of the quarterbacks -- Peyton Manning and, as the owners of the No. 1 pick in the 2012 NFL draft, Andrew Luck. One of them may have to go but the coach will be left with a great quarterback situation either way.
