It has been 14 years since the San Francisco 49ers last played in the NFC Championship game and, as a result, tickets for this weekend's game are in very high demand. The New York Giants-49ers game is currently selling at a 445 percent premium to the 49ers regular season average, according to SB Nation ticketing partner TiqIQ. New England Patriots fans, on the other hand, are used to January football, and are only paying a 83 percent premium. (Buy tickets for either game here.)
NFC Championship Game Tickets: 49ers Fans Paying Massive Premium
Jesse Lawrence of TiqIQ explains that 49ers fans are paying a 445 percent premium on tickets for Sunday’s game against the Giants.
Perhaps part of the Niners premium has to do with the fact that San Franciscans were not expecting another home game. When the Giants pulled off the upset at Lambeau Field, though, fans got an unexpected opportunity to see the Niners play at home for a trip to the Super Bowl. After the Giants’ win, the average price jumped up to an average of $657. In the last four days, the price has come down to $632, or 39 percent higher than the AFC Championship game in New England.
Since Sunday, tickets for the NFC Championship have flooded the market, and currently more than 8,000 tickets are available.
