Calvin Johnson still has one more season left on his rookie contract, but he expects to begin talks soon regarding a new deal with the Detroit Lions. He told Jim Rome on Monday that the two sides can "hopefully get things rolling" this offseason. Considering his pivotal role in the Lions' run to the playoffs this past season, Johnson should expect to receive a significant pay raise.

Calvin Johnson hopes to begin contract negotiations this summer, despite having one more year left on his current contract with the Detroit Lions.

Johnson is currently the third highest paid player in the organization, behind only quarterback Matthew Stafford and defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. After catching 96 passes for 1,681 yards and 16 touchdowns last year, Johnson staked a claim as one of the top wideout talents in the league and will likely look to be paid as such.
Larry Fitzgerald's 8-year, $120 million contract signed with the Arizona Cardinals last summer makes him NFL's highest paid receiver for the moment. Johnson is projected to make $14 million during the 2012-13 season.
