NFC Wild Card 2012: Saints Riding Huge Winning Streak

Who is the hottest team in football? It'd be hard to say it's anyone but the New Orleans Saints. Drew Brees has been lighting up the scoreboard and the Saints haven't lost since October. They're currently on an eight game winning streak and they hope to make it nine when they host the Detroit Lions in the NFC Wildcard game this weekend.

As ESPN notes, the Saints are trying to use their momentum to their advantage.

Coach Sean Payton played his starters into the fourth quarter against Carolina on Sunday because he wanted to continue to build momentum. Mission accomplished. The Saints are playing as well as anyone in the league. Although they didn’t get a first-round bye, their mindset is that they can beat anyone.

It’s hard to beat the Saints, we know that. But to do it in the dome? That’s an even taller task. The Saints haven’t lost at home this year.

Check out Canal Street Chronicles for the latest on the Saints and Pride of Detroit for the latest on the Lions, and head on over to the SBNation NFL news hub for everything you need to know about the 2012 playoffs.
