Wild Card Weekend Picks: Computer Odds Like Steelers, Falcons

It’s Wild Card weekend in the NFL, so it’s time to prepare yourself with a look at the odds, as well as picks for each game this weekend. Hope you like underdogs! All content courtesy of SB Nation’s partners at Odds Shark.

Underdogs have bitten very hard the past two years on Wild Card weekend, going 6-2 ATS. Last year, only Baltimore covered as chalk as the NFL playoffs kicked off as the chalk limped to a 1-3 ATS mark. They beat Kansas City 30-7.

And road teams have been solid bets as well, especially in AFC Wild Card picks, where the roadies are 6-2 SU past four seasons. In the past three post-seasons, they are 5-1 ATS.

In fact, in each of the past five NFL seasons, Wild Card weekend has seen at least two road teams win. Last year, the Ravens, Packers and Jets all won on the road. So when the OddsShark.com NFL picks computer predicts the Steelers to win in Denver and the Falcons to win in the Meadowlands against the Giants, it makes sense. [ See the latest Wild Card odds here ]

On Saturday, the computer pegs a pair of home victories for the Saints (-10 vs the Lions) and the Texans (-3 vs the Bengals). The computer had its first losing week of the year in Week 17, going 7-8 ATS (excluding the Pitt-Cleveland game because of the late lines). Interesting that the computer is predicting over-under betting to go the same way as it did in the 2009 playoffs when all four games went OVER the total (including that crazy 51-45 game between the Packers and Cardinals). Even the New Orleans vs Detroit game is predicted to go OVER, despite a huge opening total of 58 at shops like Bovada.
